FCF Mission Update

Our church body gives to mission in many ways. We join with other Christian Reformed Churches in our region (Classis PNW) to support eleven church plants in the Pacific Northwest. We contribute around $5000 to that effort. We join 1,000 CRC churches to support World Missions in 27 different countries, Radio and TV in ten different languages, and Home Missions in the USA and Canada.

We give around $16,000 to the denomination for these ministries. We also support local ministries with $5400 and we support the Mount Vernon Christian School with $10,000.

In addition, we encourage pledges to the following people and agencies:

Sonshine Hacienda: This is an orphanage we helped to build in San Filipe, Mex. Now that children are at the orphanage, we want to support the children. Currently there are 12 kids there and each one costs $3600 a year.

Jose and Nellie Strong, in Mount Vernon and Lynden, under NorthWest Hispanic Ministries of CRC Classis PNW.

We have been supporting Joe Strong at $2400 for over ten years so that is the goal we set out for the congregation.

A missonairy, in Toronto, CA., among the Somoli People under Africa Inland Ministries. We can not publish the name for safety reasons. We have been supporting them at $1200 for over ten years. This is a difficult field to work in and he has even experienced threats on his life.

Alfonso Palacios of San Filipe Mex under Mission San Filipe

Alfonso once attended our church and was a regular member of Joe Strong’s church. Al received a lot of training under Joe. After being deported, Al found his way to San Filipe. Al continues to work in the poorest areas of town, as well as preach in the rehab centers and he runs a food pantry.

John and Bonnie Gilbert, Serenity House under 99+1 Ministries

Ken Davis serves on the board of 99+1. This ministry has taken up the call to minister to the homeless and elderly poor. Currently they are building a home called Serenity House. They run VBS all over the city. They lead building projects and training for local churches.

Youth Dynamics/ Kyla De Wit is coming on staff for YD as their communications director. She is trying to raise her full support of $35,000. Kyla is a member of our church.

Reverie BBQ Outreach. Every second to last day of the month our church both prepares and serves the food to over 200 people. We also would like to bring a $200 offering each time.

Faith House is a new ministry in Mount Vernon that is using the Genesis Prosess materials to help women and their children continue to stablize their lives and live without relapse.

CCF CAmpus Christian Fellowship at the Skagit Valley College is a great ministry run by Christian Anderson. We want to support Christian's salary as well as bring food on Thursday nights.

Operation Night Watch, a ministry to the homeless in Seattle. So far we have pledged $640.

In Christ,
